I feel blessed to have found a career I truly love.  I started working as a public accountant in 1985 when I could not find a job as a mechanic in the city of Lebanon.  (Many of the mills had recently closed leaving the area depressed.)  I had just moved from Eastern Washington to attend Oregon State University and needed a full time job to pay for collage.  After working a few months, I discovered I loved accounting so much I changed my major from management to accounting.  After graduating from OSU, I moved to the Portland area and was hired by Roger D. Fleck, CPA.  In 2001 I acquired Roger's accounting practice after working for him for a little over eleven years.

My area of expertise is tax and financial advising of small business - under 100 employees.  Although a majority of our work is in the area of preparing tax returns and financial statements for S Corporations, C Corporations, LLCs and Partnerships, we also prepare tax returns for individuals, estates and non-profits.  We currently have around 300 business clients and close to 800 individual clients.

In the summer of 2007, I joined a Bible study with five other men from my church. One of the other men, Neil, was a successful accountant with a practice similar to mine. I knew of Neil from church but had never really spoken to him before the study. Shortly after joining the study, we decided to have lunch. Over lunch we shared details about our personal and professional lives and in the process learned that we each dreamed of having a partner one day. At the time a partnership was impossible for a number of reasons. However, over the next six months the possibility of a partnership started to open up. As the earlier barriers started to fall, we both began to wonder if God had not brought us together for this reason. By the end of 2007, we had decided to join forces in the second half of 2008, although due to the complexities of joining two accounting firms, the merger didn't happen until January 1, 2009.
