We are both in our 60's and have been going on bicycle trips since 1988. We have bicycled extensively in the USA and Canada. We have participated in supported professional tours, supported local bicycle club tours and tours we have put together for others, and cycled solo. On our first bicycle trip, we toured Banff and Jasper National Parks in Alberta. We cycled Ireland in 1995 and New Zealand in 1998. In 2000 we cycled our longest trip, a solo cycle across the USA. This was an unsupported cross-country trip where we managed to stop and visit our four grown children. In 2001 we were on a three-week tour of Nova Scotia, when the Twin Towers were attacked. In 2003 we had a great adventure following the Mississippi River from the headwaters in MN to New Orleans. The year 2004 found us following the Lewis & Clark Trail, and 2005 we visited New England and cycled around Lake Ontario. In 2006 we ride two tours, one from Montana to New Mexico and in the fall we will cycle Georgia and the surrounding states.
By the end of 2006 we would have enjoyed cycling all the shaded states, the rest are still a awaiting our arrival.
We have four grown children. Mark, married to Nadia, owns a CPA firm in Beaverton OR and graciously maintains our website. Barbara, a social worker, is married to Scott who works for the US Postal Service. They live near Milwaukee and have joined us for several cycle adventures. Katie is a civilian manager for the US Air Force Research Laboratory. She is married to John, a structural manger for Goodrich. They live near Dayton OH. Bruce is in the US Coast Guard and is married to Amber who works in a Human Resource dept in Buffalo, NY they are expecting their first child in 2006.
We are both retired professionals, who currently work part time. Jim works during tax season, and Mary Kay supports the local school district on special projects. All in all life is great!
