Saturday, June 17, 2000 We traveled 68 miles from Cut Bank MT to Chester MT. The road was fairly flat but the wind was from the southeast for most of the day. As long as the road stayed along side the railroad track, it was quite level. Every so often the railroad would move away from the road and the road would take a shortcut over the top of a hill. The good news is that the road then came back to the level of the railroad. The landscape changed from cattle country to dry wheat farming. We saw farms that had 8 to 10 wheat storage bins lined up in a row. All you could do was watch the mileposts go by to determine how far you needed to go. We arrived in Chester and there are two motels, one charges $29 a night and the other charges $25 a night. Our room is very large but it is lacking in many respects. |
