Monday, June 19, 2000 This was a rest day and we needed it for two reasons, Mary Kay has caught a cold and our muscles are tired. We got up at 7:00 AM, ate breakfast and then met with Don Cockman, the gentleman from England. We parked his bicycle along with our bicycle, took pictures and went on the Havre underground tour. It was not a bad tour but the tour guide needed lessons on how to be a guide. He talked in a monotone from a memorized speech. It was very poor. We did get to see the Havre railroad museum. It had a lot of old newspaper articles about the Northern Pacific, Burlington, and Milwaukee Road railroads. After Don left, we did laundry and mailed our winter clothes back to Pasco (we do not expect to have any more mornings with 40 temperatures). I took the bicycle and went to a bicycle shop where I replaced our damaged flag, got regular tire patches, and replaced the main bicycle chain. With 2,500 miles it was starting to stretch. After lunch we rested for most of the afternoon. At present we are packing so we can start riding early tomorrow. It is almost 90 miles to the next motel. |
