Saco to Wolf Point

Wednesday, June 21, 2000

We are almost out of the state of Montana. Today we traveled 95 miles. We started in Saco MT and ended the day in Wolf Point MT. The scenery was very much like the previous two days, a combination of wheat fields and grasslands. I do not know what attraction cows have for Mary Kay, but whenever we pass cows along side the road, most of the cows will stop eating and watch Mary Kay ride past. We finally came to the Missouri River today. For the past two days we have been following the course of the Milk River. We now have arrived where the Milk River empties into the Missouri River.

Early in the morning, I noticed a kink in the rear chain. We stopped and inspection showed that one side link was not attached. I suspect that another joint that the bicycle shop in Havre had put together failed. I again had to replace the damaged chain links. I sure hope I have fixed all the bicycle shop mess-ups. Today we had a much more normal wind but it still came from the west giving us a very nice tail wind. Today we did not see any other bicycles on the road.
