Wednesday, July 05, 2000 Today we traveled 36 miles, 13 miles in Minnesota, the first 10 miles in Wisconsin in a rainstorm, and the rest of the time under skies that looked like more rain. We left Chisago City about 7:30 AM and arrived in New Richland WI about 11:30 AM. When we arrived, every piece of clothing that we were wearing was wet. We began the day under very cloudy skies but we did not have any rain until we reached Wisconsin. The route was through partially wooded farm country. It would have been very beautiful if it had not been raining. Most of the afternoon was spent recharging our batteries. We are both very tired and needed a day that did not require much effort. Later, I went next door to a restaurant and had a piece of pie. I noticed a sign in front of an old farmhouse that said “Heritage Center”. I got Mary Kay and we went on an excellent tour of the center. Most of the buildings are from the 1850’s to the 1890’s. They have an old one-room school, two farmhouses, two log cabins, and a general store. [Picture here of school] (when ready)
