Bicycling the Lewis & Clark Trail
Mandan, ND - Rest Day

Saturday, August 14, 2004
Distance Cycled: zero miles

Second rest day in a row, very unusual for us. Barb and Scott rode in from Washburn in the morning, while the rest of us rested up in the motel. Around 11:15 we took the shuttle to downtown Mandan, enjoyed a good lunch with ice cream and then walked down to the trolley station. The trolley ride was about 4.5 miles out to Fort Abraham Lincoln. Barb and Scott caught up with us at the Fort. We all enjoyed the tour of Mandan earth lodges, and a tour of Gen. Custer's home when he was commander of the fort.

We took the last trolley back into Mandan and then the hotel shuttle back to the hotel. George and Jane ate supper in their hotel room and the rest of us enjoyed an excellent supper in the motel dinning room. This was the first night that we were able to order spaghetti since we left Missoula MT.
