Hubbard's Landing to Grove Hill AL
Distance: 60.9 Miles

This was a very hard day. First we had the problem of finding food. We ate oatmeal from packages and a banana each for breakfast. Hubbard's Landing did not have a restaurant so we were forced to carry anything we were going to eat on our bicycle. Since Hubbard's Landing was on the Tensaw River, the first thing in the morning we had to climb back up to highway 59. As a result we found out that our legs were still tired from the work out they got the day before. We ate a second breakfast 20 miles later at a restaurant in Little River, AL. The problem was that we went up and down a number of hills to get to Little River. We stopped at every location where we could get in out of the heat and humidity. In Perdue Hill we were able to fill all of our water bottles with ice and fresh water. We were almost out of water when we stopped. By now our legs were so tired that we were walking any hill that was a little on the steep side. Lots of trucks on the road today, including logging trucks, full and empty. Going up a hill we saw a grass fire beside the road, we called 911 and reported the fire. A mile later we passed the fire truck going to put out the fire. We stopped at a convince store just 4.5 miles from Grove Hill and ahead of us was a long climb, we were very hot and tired.. We asked if anyone had a pickup truck and would take us into Grove Hill and one gentleman volunteered to take us because he was on his way home.

We arrived at the motel and crashed. We were both exhausted. Walked next door for a good dinner, and then walked around town before returning to our room. We have found most people to be extremely polite and friendly.
