Linden to Livingston, AL
Distance: 38.3 Miles
Once again we had to ride for breakfast at a fast food restaurant, for a so-so breakfast. Then ride back to the motel to pickup our luggage before heading out. Today we followed Highway 28 from Linden to Livingston, most of the ride was country 2 lane roads. However for 5 miles in the middle of the ride it was to be a 4-lane road, however due to construction on 2 lanes we had a 2 lane road for the whole trip. Most of the ride was rolling hills where we got some advantage of the downhill towards starting the uphill portion. The bad news Mary Kay's computer broke 10.8 miles into the ride, so all day she had no idea how far we had traveled nor the current bicycle speed.
We arrived in Livingston, about 11:00 stopped at a gas station to call the motels, a man buying gas decided which motel we should go to so we headed out of town towards the interstate about ½ mile to our motel, the heavens opened up and it started thundering. We saw a sign for a restaurant that was open. We quickly turned in and found a large covered porch to put our bicycle on out of the rain, while we ate. By the time we left the restaurant the rain had stopped and we were able to ride to the motel without getting major wet, always a sign of a good day. Another good event, we have internet access and guest laundry and a good breakfast in the motel for tomorrow morning. All in all we were glad we had followed the man at the gas station's advice.
We completed the laundry caught up on emails and Jim fixed Mary Kay's computer, two wires had broken. Jim fixed them with tape sure hope that the fix holds for another 4 states until we get home. At 6:00 we decided to walk to a restaurant for dinner. Low and behold the thunder and rain was back, so we ran to the nearest gas station and ate a subway sandwich for supper. It was raining harder when we left, so now the clothes are drying and we will put them away in the morning.
