Lake City to Madison FL
Distance: 60.1 Miles

This morning we had a good breakfast at the motel and then headed out. We soon discovered that Florida has lots of hills and is not flat. For the first several miles we passed beautiful homes and golf course on the lake, we even followed a dead end road which let us out through an automatic gate unto the road we were looking for. It was a hard day for us partial, due to covering over 50 miles until we found a place with food, and we haven't yet developed good bicycle legs. Another week and we will be in great shape. You notice a difference the first 2 weeks, but not much more improvement as you add more miles. Today the weather was perfect cold in the morning and warm in the afternoon; only once again the wind was making us work harder rather then supporting our trip. We passed over the Suwannee River, and by fields of Tomatoes.

We are spending tonight at a very nice B& B in Madison, a town full of great historic homes and lots of history. The B&B is the old manse and they have also restored the Presbyterian Church next door. The Church windows are the oldest in the state of Florida. Well worth a visit.
