Madison to Tallahassee FL
Distance: 56.6 Miles
We had a good breakfast this morning at the B&B. We were seen off by the owners of the Four Freedoms lodging and begin our fourth day of bicycle riding. By the time we had gone 8 miles, I knew that it was going to be a difficult riding day. My legs and butt both hurt. The good news is that we at least stopped every chance that we could to get food and rest. The bad news is that northern Florida was no longer nice and flat. For most of the day we went up one side of a hill and down the other side of the hill. On the majority of the hills, we were in the granny gear because our legs had not yet recovered from the first day of riding much less 3 days of riding. By the time we reached the outskirts of Tallahassee, we were walking many of the hills. We walked some because there was no shoulder and there was too much traffic to keep a long line of cars waiting while we inched our way up the hill or our legs just could not manage one more hill.
There is something going on in Tallahassee this week as we had to call 4 motels before we found one that had rooms available for Monday night. It felt good to arrive at the motel, shower and walk one block for dinner. Tomorrow the bicycle will stay in the motel room while we walk to town.
