Tallahassee to Chattahoochee FL
Distance: 46.9 Miles
The breakfast at an Econo Lodge is not very substantial. Today was no exception. We ate breakfast at the motel and began our day traveling from just east of the State Capital to the far west side of Tallahassee. This was a normal work day so we got to share the road with a lot of other individuals in their autos. The good news was that for most of the time we were going against the rush hour traffic headed for the State Offices surrounding the State Capital. We even had bicycle paths as we went around the Florida State University Campus. As we approached the far west side of Tallahassee, we stopped at a Wal-Mart and ate at a second breakfast at a fast food place in the store called Blimpie. We both had a fairly good breakfast just as they opened up the fast food place.
Today we seemed to go up and down hills all day and we had the wind in our face for the 5th day of bicycle riding. It looks as if we will be fighting the wind for the next couple of days riding into the wind sure makes the day harder. On most bicycle trips you spend part of the day riding into the wind and part of the day riding with the wind but when you want to go in one direction all day, you end of going into the wind all day. Below is a picture of a typical rest room along the road.
We ate lunch at a small Deli in Quincy and arrived in Chattahoochee to a sign that says "Only 19 more days to Hurricane Season", glad we are traveling north next week. Chattahoochee is the last town we will be in on Eastern Time Zone. It is also very close to the Georgia, border. Tonight's motel is privately owned. They did have a guest laundry and we were able to wash two loads of clothes so tomorrow all our clothing is clean. It is also located across the street from the Florida State Hospital. Supper was more fried food.
