Grenada MS - Rest Day
Even though it is a rest day we were still up early and had breakfast in the motel. We then decided to walk into town over 2 miles away. The walk was interesting, lots of older large homes in good repair, some smaller run down homes. We arrived in town to find nothing open but we did walk around the town square. We saw a Presbyterian Church that was established in 1835, but the service did not start for an hour and it was too hot to sit and wait, so we walked back to the motel. It was very hot and both us had wet clothes when we returned to our motel room.
We spent the afternoon relaxing in our motel room. Reading, watching TV and catching up on emails, etc. We walked across the street for dinner and then put away our clothes and got the bicycle ready for an early start tomorrow.
Interesting Notes:
- You cannot find almonds to buy in Alabama or Mississippi. This is big peanut country, so you can buy peanuts and some cashews but no Almonds.
- Mississippi contains the Worlds Sweet Potato Capitol.
- Mississippi has lots of catfish farms and seems to be the favorite food.
- We missed most of the Magnolia blooms, but still sometimes we can smell the Magnolias as we cycle by the trees.
