Greenville, MS --Rest Day
Today we slept in until the hour of 6:45 AM. We read the books we carry with us for a while and then we went to eat breakfast. After breakfast we returned to the room and read for a few more hours. We then called a bicycle shop and found out that UPS had been there and they had the tubes we needed for our bicycle. The problem was the bicycle shop was a little over 2 miles from our motel. We got our act together and headed for the bicycle shop at noon. Along the way we were serenaded for 15 minutes by beautiful bells from the Baptist Church.
We were almost to our destination when we spotted an Italian restaurant. Since it was past lunch time we stopped and had salads for our lunch. After lunch we continued our walk to the bicycle shop where we purchased 1 new tube for both the front and back wheel. Now we began the walk back to the motel. On the way we stopped and bought a gallon of water because the water in Greenville is very brown. The color is caused by cypress roots that are in the springs which supply water for the city.
For supper we walked over the levy to the Casino and enjoyed their buffet dinner. In 1927 the levy broke and water flooded 7 states, which gave the levy national attention. The current levy is taller and longer then the Wall of China. Tomorrow we will cross the Mississippi River into Arkansas. Arkansas will be the 43rd state we have cycled in.
