Zion National Park

Today was a Rest Day; well we had better call it a Hike Day. We all had breakfast at the motel and then walked across the street and caught the free shuttle to Zion National Park and then across the Visitor Center to catch the free shuttle into Zion Canyon. What a great way to see the Park, we rode the shuttle to the Grotto stop and then hiked the strenuous 4 mile walk to Angels Landing.

We then hiked the Kayenta Trail to the middle Emerald Pool and an extra one mile hard climb to the Upper pool, followed by a one mile hike to Zion Lodge. All total we hiked over 8 miles with over 1400' of climbing on the first portion of the hike.

Scott and Barb did fine, but we ran out of water and food on the hike and subsequently out of steam. We returned to the motel around 5:00 pm, after doing laundry we rode the free shuttle to a Mexican restaurant and then returned to the motel tired and ready to call it a day.
