Rest Day
We all arose slowly. Some like Jim slower than others and some like Scott, very early. Scott had this computer and he worked to put together a new bicycle route. Around 10:00 AM, Scott, George and Jim got into the U-Haul van and headed for a bicycle shop. Scott had a broken idler gear in his derailleur. Jim replaced the chain that kept breaking and had the shifter adjusted so he could use the click shifting instead of the friction shifting. George was having trouble shifting and hoped that this mechanic could fix the problem. Scott and George struck out, only Jim had any luck and it was not all good. One of the sprockets is worn out and it is very difficult to shift into the granny gear. This bicycle shop did not have a replacement sprocket.
While the men went to a bicycle shop, the ladies headed to downtown Wilmington and went shopping. About 2:00 PM the men rejoined the ladies and everyone went to eat at a downtown restaurant. The food was good but Mary Kay had an upset stomach and could not eat lunch. After lunch, Jim and Mary Kay hurried back to the motel and Mary Kay went to bed while Jim did some more work on our revised bicycle route. Mary Kay had a bad case of the chills and spent most of the evening in Bed.
