Rest Day
Today we all got up at a different time. Seems like we all ate breakfast at a different time over a 2 hour period, but by 9:30 we were all waiting for the city bus to take us to downtown Charleston so we could visit the Market place and the Historical District. We got off at the end of the bus at the line near the Washington Square Park. We walked off the bus and we were in the Park.
We then walked stopping to read all the historical markers placed on all the old buildings, worked our way down to the Market buildings, it was great to see all the different stalls of crafts for sale. Barb and Scott bought shirts and spices. Jim and I never did find anything we felt like taking home with us, although we visited at least 20 shops.
We walked to one end of town to find a special restaurant for lunch only to find it is closed every Monday, and of course today is Monday. So then we walked back to a sandwich shop close to the bus stop. The food was outstanding and very different then what we have at home.
After lunch George and Jane returned to the motel and picked up the rental car, as they are driving back tomorrow to Atlanta to catch a plane home. They then went down by the Marina museums while the rest of us continued shopping, and stopping at the Post Office so Scott and Barb could mail their purchases home.
Late afternoon we returned to the motel to work on tomorrow's route and to rest our legs. We ate supper at the same restaurant we had the night before. Tomorrow should be a cold day.
