The train arrived in Washington DC shortly after 2 PM Tuesday. We found the baggage claim area at the Union Station and began looking for someone who could locate our bicycle box. We found the duffle bag that contained the bicycle seats in a locked cabinet. After several minutes we found a gentleman who went into a back room and brought out the bicycle. He than opened the locked cabinet and gave us the duffle bag. In a little under 2 hours the bicycle was assembled in the baggage area and we were ready to head to the hotel. On the way to the hotel the bicycle was not shifting very well. Upon reaching the hotel, Jim checked the rear derailleur and found that he had assembled it incorrectly. After reassembling the derailleur the bicycle was shifting correctly. We met and George and Jane at the motel when they arrived from the airport, in time to walk to a very good restaurant for supper.
The next day after breakfast we walked downtown to the International SPY museum. The three of us completed the museum and ate an excellent lunch by the time George completed the Spy Museum. We walked around Washington DC then the guys walked back to the motel to start assembling George/Jane's bicycle. Mary Kay and Jane visited the National Art Gallery and then returned to the motel to pick up the men for dinner. We walked to an Italian restaurant for dinner, where the food was so, so and the food was over priced., we than returned to the hotel for the night.
Thursday we walked to the mall and visited the World War II memorial. We arrived just in time to hear the presentation. The memorial cost 100 million dollars to construct and was constructed using private money. 400,000 Americans died in World War II and the entire country supported the war. Less than 4,000 have died in Iraq and half the people in the country want an immediate withdrawal of all American forces. The rest of the day we spent washing clothes and getting ready to bicycle. We walked to a sandwich place for
