Today the sky was very cloudy when we woke up this morning but it was not raining. Looking at the weather radar on the internet, there was no rain within 100 miles of Valley Forge. It was cold so we ate breakfast and waited for an hour before we began to bicycle to Philadelphia.
The first 4 miles were on city streets. Almost all of the rest of the ride was on bike paths, some were paved, some had very fine smooth rocks and some were similar to the C&O Canal towpath we rode on the first day. Most of the bike paths were very scenic. At times you were riding your bicycle in the middle of a city and all you could see were trees and bushes. Due to the heavy rains for the previous several days we had to ride around a number of water puddles and in a couple of places we had to ride through a couple of inches of water for several yards. At one place we went down a steep hill on coble stones.
We reached the end of the bike path and headed for our hotel for the next three nights on city streets with very little traffic. We unloaded our bicycles at a very nice downtown motel where they let us put the bicycles into a closed empty bar where they are locked up.
We took showers and walked to the Historic district. We visited the Visitor Center, stood in line to get cheep tickets to a Broadway play, (which we did not get, as your name needs to be picked as a winner) and then want to a very good Restaurant , although not as good as the food in Washington DC.
