Bicycling to the NWTR Victoria, BC
June & July - 2009
Wednesday July 1, 2009
Anacortes WA to Victoria Canada
Distance 22.0 Miles
We woke up extra early and loaded up the bicycles for a 5 mile ride to the Ferry to Sidney, as they wanted us there an hour before boarding, giving us time to buy some more breakfast food and put on warm clothes for the ferry ride.
The Smith's are also having bicycle problems with broken spokes; they tried to have it repaired in Anacortes but are still having troubles. We arrived in Sydney BC and got off the ferry.
We met a bicycle rider who was one of the people in charge of the tandem rally and he suggested that we use a bicycle shop called Rider's Cycles to get our bicycles fixed. He said he would call the owner who was also in charge of the tandem rally and tell him our problems. He called us back and we met him at 3:00 PM. He looked at both of our problems and we loaded our bicycle into his van and Smith's rear wheel to be re-spoked. He said to call the next day to find out how things were going. We may be back in business. We all took the city bus downtown had another excellent dinner and walked down to the wharf watched the people celebrate Canada's Birthday and great fireworks display when it finally got dark enough around 10:30. We then had an interesting bus ride back to the University and our dorm, lots of people out having a good evening.
